3 ways to get more people reading your content

womensittingatdeskNo matter what the size of your business, you will undoubtedly want to make sure that people are reading your content. But how can you make sure that people are clicking on and reading your company blog?

There are three very simple ways that you can encourage people to share your content. And I’m going to share those tips with your right now.

  1. Make sure that your content is easy to read

There is no bigger turn off when it comes to content than when it is difficult to read and understand. Luckily there are a few things that you can do when it comes to writing a blog article that will make what you are saying easier to follow.

Using numbers or bullet points to break up your article is a great way to ensure that what you’re writing about is broken down into easily digestible chunks. This works particularly well when you are planning out what to write as this technique will help you to evenly distribute your thoughts throughout the article.

Tip: When drafting out an article, write three numbered points and then three bullet points on what you want to say about these things. Then all you have to really worry about is connecting sentences.

  1. Put it in all of the right places (social channels, easy to access from your website)

It doesn’t make much sense to write an article if you’re then not going to share it with anyone. You need to make sure that what you write is easily found, and the likelihood is that it’s not going to be immediately found using a search engine like Google.

Where you will have real success is by making sure that your blog is connected to all of the right places. Make sure that it is easily found through your website, having a link in the top navigation bar is best. Also, don’t neglect to share your latest posts on your social media accounts and email newsletter, you have an audience there that wants to hear from you!

Tip: When you post about your blog on Facebook or Twitter think about an image you can post with your article. Posts with images get [x number] more reads than those without.

  1. Share other people’s content (and ask them to share yours)

Finally, if you want to get your content seen by more people, think about sharing other people’s content. This is the easiest way for you to start building relationships with other businesses that have a similar customer demographic to you, but are not direct competitors.

Think about things that would complement the content that you share on a regular basis and start by sharing that. Don’t be afraid to ask people to share your blog articles if you think it is something their audience would be interested in (and be obliging if they ask you to return the favour).

Tip: An easy way to organise accounts from which you want to share on Twitter is to create a list. If it’s a public list it works even better as people will see that you are endorsing them.

The task of finding and growing an audience for your blog doesn’t have to be intimidating. If you follow these three tips you’ll have new readers flocking to you in no time.
