“After the boys of summer have gone…”

Aaisha Knight (c) Michael Mba 1Who remembers that old Don Henley song? It was released all the way back in 1984 according to Wikipedia.

That’s my running theme tune for the day in case anyone is wondering.

How time has flown! So here we are in August already and looking towards the autumn months. This is my fifth blog post now and I feel like a WATC blogging veteran now. As the days crawl towards the end of the year I’m trying to wear all of my summer clothes before the inevitable chill sets in.

Part of me still wants to smarten up but the more realistic part is telling me to show a lot more of my glamorous side to reflect my new found career in the beauty industry.

Last week I found myself near the riverside again, as I met a client for a consultation near the beautiful South Bank which is a part of the city that really comes alive in the warm weather. Since I am no longer in the corporate office, it’s been a bit hard to adjust to my new more casual wardrobe. Part of me still wants to smarten up but the more realistic part is telling me to show a lot more of my glamorous side to reflect my new found career in the beauty industry.

I decided to throw on this dress that I found for a bargain £12.00 on eBay! It is an asymmetric peplum dress in a stretchy scuba fabric. I accessorised with my trusty gold belt and finished off with a short white cardi and beige heels. Simple yet glam enough for me to feel “dressed”.

Fashion tip

If you are shopping on a budget but still want to look well put together, check out eBay for some serious bargains on brand new clothes (it’s not just for second hand items!) There are a lot of UK based small clothing retailers that stock fashions that are mostly in the style of popular celebrities. Also check out brand name clothing such as Zara, ASOS and River Island being sold at 60% off or more than if you were to buy in the shops – sometimes people don’t get round to wearing brand new clothes and pop them on eBay. This way you can get the look you want for less. The best way is to use general search terms to get the widest choice of items; e.g. “Midi dress” or “Peplum top”.

Here are some picks from a few of my favourite eBay stores at the moment:

Ok, that’s all folks.

I hope that some of you score some bargains!
