Little Miss Geek is a campaign inspiring girls and women to want to change the world through technology.
We want the next Mark Zuckerberg to be female. Currently only 17% of the UK’s tech workforce is female and over the last 10 years this has been dropping by 0.5% each year. If we continue at this rate, by 2043 less than 1% of the tech industry will be female. Since we have launched the campaign in Oct 2012 in the Apple store, there was no-one raising this issue. Since launch, a number of brilliant initiatives have launched and we are part of a government advisory board to bring all these initiatives together to further impact young women choosing STEM subjects. Our campaign has gained support from over 40 MPs including Theresa May and Ed Vaizey, and we won best social enterprise at the Women in Marketing awards. Most importantly, in one of our inner city London schools, we have increased the number of girls studying Computer Science by 52%.
Get Involved
First off, we REALLY need your help ensuring that girls are part of our technological revolution. We will not rest until 50% of the tech and games workforce is female and we can’t do this without YOU. We really need the support of men as well if we are to change things so if you are a bloke, please get involved. Some ways you can have be part of our campaign:
