Inspirational Woman: Kubi Springer | Managing Director, Sisterhood TV

kubiSome of you may have seen Kubi either at one of our events interviewing people or perhaps on the TV. If you have not met Kubi before then you have missed out on one of the most energetic and passionate people we have ever met.  Kubi has been spending a great deal of time filming in the US.  When she was last back in the UK we asked her how it was all going.

What made you decide to set up Sisterhood TV?

My main impetus came when I was giving talks at Networking Groups and Universities and the younger women kept telling me that they had “never meet anyone like me before” (in terms of my career journey) and I kept thinking “I know lots of women like me!!!”. So I set Sisterhood TV up to inspire a new generation of women. I want to show them that they can achieve absolutely anything they want! Success leaves a foot print….there are women out there making it happen and these young ladies need to see this.
So I created a TV Show (aired on Sky) and online TV Channel (Sisterhoodtv.com) to provide content for the “Aspiring Woman”. The type of woman who is striving to achieve more out of life and wants to see inspirational stories and content to assist her journey to success…from her personal development to her career aspirations and all that’s in between.

What have been your biggest challenges so far in the company?

My biggest challenge has been financing and resourcing our international activities with such a small team. I never excepted it to grow so quickly but when we started to get calls from the USA I had to respond. Its a wonderful challenge to have as we have had the opportunity to go back and forth to New York to film content for the show.

The second challenge is making sure that we can respond quickly enough to the demand and find sponsors to finance it all.

If there was one thing that you could say was a great success, what would it be?

Getting the show signed to Sky! That was amazing.

How do you see the market performing in the next 12-18 months?

I think its going to take a turn for the worst. When that happens people will need to look at all of their skill sets to survive. I keep telling people to think creatively. There is money out there…you just need to figure out which one of your talents will assist you to get it!

If you could go back to when you started the company would you change anything?

No. Everything that could be deemed a mistake has really been an excellent opportunity to learn. The key is to remember that if you fall 7 times…you have to get up 8 times.

When and if you get the time, what do you like to do in obtain a life balance?

Family and friends are very important to me. Sisterhood TV has me in-front of the camera so its imperative to have people around me to keep me grounded and focused. I love to spend quality time with them and whenever I can I just like to enjoy a cup of tea and a good book at home on the sofa LOL.

Can you share any tips for any members wishing to start out on their own?

Make business not emotional decisions.
