Labour Women’s Network

Labour Womens Network logoLabour Women’s Network: Supporting Labour women since 1988

Labour Women’s Network is an organisation of women members of the Labour Party dedicated to supporting Labour women to play a full part in the Party, and to securing the election of more Labour women to public office at every level.

Between elections we run a training programme for all women in the Labour Party who are interested in seeking selection to public office. We also run a ‘CV Surgery’ service for LWN members and provide advice on selections and related matters.

LWN is a voluntary group funded entirely by members and supporters.

About

Labour Women’s Network was set up in 1988 and is a voluntary organisation funded and run entirely by its members.

We train, mentor and advise Labour women seeking selection for all levels of public life, but particularly parliament. We run residential courses for our members, and provide CV surgeries by email.

We support Labour women standing for election, and produce materials to assist them.

We campaigned for the introduction of positive action measures to increase the number of Labour women in public life at all levels, and continue to support this.

The Labour Women’s Network conducts its business according to its Mission Statement:

‘Labour Women’s Network is dedicated to supporting Labour women to play a full part in the Party, to securing the election of more Labour women to public office at every level, and to ensuring Labour women’s voices are heard.’

The current objectives of the Labour Women’s Network are to:

  • Train and mentor women in the Labour Party;
  • Grow a sustainable income stream to support our Aims and Objectives;
  • Develop a broader campaigning role on women in the Party (e.g., on all-women shortlists, proportionality, support for women members, etc.);
  • Build and develop women’s voices;
  • Build and grow the organisation, including increasing our membership; and
  • Regularly review, update and improve our activities to make sure that they support our Aims and Objectives.

Membership fees:

Membership of Labour Women’s Network is open to any woman member of the Labour Party (please note that your membership must be current) and costs just £15 a year (£10 for unwaged). Paying us by standing order or continuous credit card payment is a real help – it saves us money we can spend on training and is very easy (although you can, of course, pay by cheque if you’d rather).
