Vacancy of the week: Financial Analyst – Project Accounting | Leatherhead, Surrey

This permanent position reports into the will be part of the area Financial Controller within the UK FBS area with exposure to both internal finance and delivery side of the business.

This role exists to act as the lead financial analyst on the Compass project. The role must ensure accuracy, completeness and integrity of the financial data as well as its presentation to various business stakeholders. The role is pivotal to the smooth running of the reporting cycle and requires strong time management skills, attention to detail and excellent business partnering ability.Key responsibilities include but not limited to;

Monthly Reporting and Financial Control
* Timely closure of the books on a monthly basis in accordance with CGI’s policies and processes
* Ensuring revenue recognition is applied in accordance with the agreed approach for the programme
* Effective control over WIP balances, taking proactive steps to achieve reduction
* Maintain Balance Sheet review sheets with supporting information
* Working closely with the Project Managers to ensure Project Reporting Tools (PRTs) are kept up to date and are materially correct
* Production of monthly reports for Programme Director
* Review of monthly financial reporting for the Client

Monthly Invoicing
* Monitoring & reporting on the completeness of the monthly invoicing processes so that the Programme Management can ensure all invoices are raised in a timely fashion, are in accordance with the contract and are fully supported to the Client
* Liaison with Client staff to deal with any invoicing queries
* Tracking of payments received from the Client, taking proactive steps to address any queries or issues
* Reviewing and advising on improvements to the Programme’ s processes for invoice checking of supplier and subcontractor invoices to ensure CGI payments are correct and in accordance with the contract
* Preparation of the customer financial model to be sent with invoices

Forecasting and Analysis
* Attendance at Project Reviews, ensuring all issues are captured in PRT updates and Programme forecasts
* Working closely with Project Managers and the FC to ensure the re-forecasting process is effective and that any variances and issues are understood by the management team
* The preparation of reports and analysis of data from PSA and Diver
* Maintenance of the consolidated PRT and review to the Master Control File.
* Review of project managers’ individual PRTs, and reconciliations of these to ledgers.
* Performing cost analysis to assist Project Managers in driving the Programme effectively, working proactively to reduce costs where possible
* Track and forecast working capital for the Programme, taking proactive steps to reduce where possible
* Assessing Programme risks and working with the Project Managers and the Programme FC to mitigate these

Change Control / New Business
* Maintenance of the Change Control Register from a finance perspective, ensuring change notes are captured appropriately in PRTs and that any work at risk is being adequately monitored and controlled
* Working closely with the Change Team to drive improvement in the process and to address commercial and financial risks
* Supporting the Programme FC with financial modeling in respect of large change requests / new business opportunities and business cases

Personal Criteria:
Essential Qualifications
* ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified accountant
Essential Experience & Skills
* The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with strong analytical skills;
* Being able to work effectively with teams in different locations;
* Experience of managing other people;
* They will be a confident and proficient communicator, comfortable with dealing with a variety of staff;
* Process orientated and results driven;
* Experience of forecasting and reporting;
* Experience within the IT services sector and contract accounting would be useful but is not a pre-requisite;
* Experience of working in a Shared Service environment would be useful but is not a pre-requisite;
* Experience with using PeopleSoft and Hyperion Financial Management would be useful but is not a pre-requisite.

Location: Leatherhead, London, Client Site
Background: Ideally from the IT and / or service sector with contract accounting experience.
