Rising Star Winners 2016- Montage

Barclays sponsoring Rising Stars 2016

We are proud to announce that Barclays will be hosting the celebration event for winners of WeAreTheCity’s Top 100 Rising Stars awards.

The celebratory event will be held on 30 June 2016 at Barclays, 1 Churchill Square Place, Canary Wharf and will be attended by our 100 winners, judges and sponsors.

During the celebrations, our guests will have the opportunity to network and hear from a number of inspirational speakers, such as Brenda Emmanus, BBC Arts and Culture presenter, and Caroline Dinenage, MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Women, Equalities and Family Justice. Guests will be welcomed to Barclays by Sally Clark, Chief Internal Auditor.

Mark McLane - Barclays HeforsheMark McLane, Global Head of Diversity and Inclusion, Barclays said: “I am delighted that Barclays have sponsored WeAreTheCity Top 100 Rising Star Awards and are hosting the finalist event.”

“Women have long played a key role in the success of Barclays, from our female telephonists in the early 1900s to Hilda Harding, whose appointment as the UK’s first female Bank Manager in 1958 showed Barclays recognised talent rather than gender. Right up today where our workforce is 51% female and as a United Nations HeForShe Impact Champion, we have achieved gender parity. In conjunction with WeAreTheCity we are able to shine the spotlight fully on the many great women who are leading and contributing to all sectors of business and society not only in the UK but also across the globe. The finalist event is only the start for those recognised as Rising Stars. These women will truly help shape the future – not only their own careers and the lives of those around them. I encourage each Rising Star to “pay it forward” and support those following in their footsteps.”

Jacqueline-Gold-thumbJacqueline Gold CBE, Chief Executive of Gold Group International, Ann Summers and Knickerbox and supporter of the Rising Star Awards, said: “Congratulations ladies! You should be incredibly proud of this amazing achievement and the recognition it gives to the hard work and dedication you have put into your business. I wish you every success for the future and I am certain that with the passion, energy and enthusiasm you have already shown you will continue to achieve many great things!”

Inga BealeInga Beale, CEO, Lloyd’s said: “Many congratulations to everyone who has been nominated as a Rising Star. Lloyd¹s is delighted to offer its continuing support to WeAreTheCity and in particular the winners of the Rising Stars Insurance category who are such important role models for our industry.”

The Rising Star Awards were introduced to showcase the pipeline of female talent in the UK and to create role models across 20 different industries and professions. The awards focus on celebrating the achievements of women below a management level regardless of age.
