


Winter 11: The Style List
Before the cold takes a hold, check the Winter’s top ten and make sure you have them in your locker
1) The Pea Coat. A staple of menswear, the pea coat never goes out of style, but this season has built up a real head of style steam. Weather beating wool that hears the call of duty, go for plain navy and black versions with button details.
2) The blue shirt. It may be low key but the blue shirt is a vital cog in the menswear machine. Use it to anchor any outfit from smart to casual.
3) The Gilet. Of course it has a placein the Winter wardrobe and it teams with chunky knitwear to great weather-beating effect.
4) The chunky knit. Man up in a serious jumper – if it was good enough for a lone North Sea fisherman in the Nineteenth Century, then it’s good enough for you.
5) The Scarf. You never have to go without a dash of colour this winter. Wrap a patterned scarf round your neck and brighten up in tartans, stripes and dots.
6) Cords. Otherwise known as the winter chino, they’re essential kit for any discerning man – get yours in neutral and navy.
7) The Fairisle. Rich in heritage and seriously cool Nordic and North Sea patterns are the in-the-know way to inject winter colour. Wear it and be proud.
The blazer: Grown up casualwear is at the crux of all men’s style. A tailored blazer will do the trick; go navy or grey.
9) Get padded: super warm wadding is a vital winter tool and this season, it comes in expedition strength and looks extra stylish, thanks to designers revisiting the style. Get involved now for years of insulation.
10) The Hiking Boots. These boots were made for walking, so get stylish and take a hike. Wear them with your cords, denims and chinos alike.
