Christmas Indulgence Without Guilt & Weight Gain Part 3

cookies-210718_1280The mindset to eat out and indulge without guilt
  • One meal or even one day is almost irrelevant when averaged out over a whole month
  • Indulge when you have a special occasion and continue as normal the rest of the time
  • Keep your routines as consistent as possible and continue your training to keep yourself in your normal healthy habits
  • Making excuses after a day or two of indulgence that you may as well ‘give up until January’ is self-defeating and only harming you
  • Even if you regress after a week filled with parties and meals out, call that one step back. Take 3 steps forward the rest of the month and you are still net 2 steps forward. You can make progress in your fitness through December!
  • This period exists in something of a bubble. The fact is you will go back to normal. Your normal routine, normal goals and normal feelings. Do you want to return to normal feeling shit about yourself, guilty and frustrated that good work you have done previously has been lost?
  • ‘I’ll do it January’ never works. You have to take decisive action to achieve success. Doing it in January will not work. Nor will buying lottery tickets every week or ‘seeing what happens’. Put in the work and you reap the rewards. You have to deserve the reward before you will attain it.
Guilt free zone

Honestly, just do whatever you want and don’t feel guilty about it. No amount of guilt changes the past and it doesn’t act as a positive motivator for the future either. Just move on. If you can, learn a lesson and create a strategy to not repeat whatever mistake you made. Dwelling on it never helps.

Get rid of the guilt by knowing what your goals and purpose are, and sticking to your routine the rest of the time. When you want to indulge you can go ahead, because you had some forethought and did this one thing that ensures you will never feel guilty…

Build it in to your plan

Pre-plan your big meals and nights out and build around them. Know that you will have a couple of unplanned excursions out as well, so account for them…

This way you are in the mindset to nail it perfectly on the other days, and that positive momentum and motivation will make it much easier to make better choices and balance it out the rest of the day as discussed in Part 1 and Part 2 of this series.
