Giving Back: Get involved with Girls out loud!

PrintGirls Out Loud is an award winning social enterprise founded in 2010 on a mission to raise the aspirations of teenage girls in the UK.  We create and deliver early intervention programmes in schools and communities focused on building self esteem, emotional resilience, a positive body image and confidence.

Alongside hosting motivational events and speed mentoring relays in schools with deliver 2 longer term interventions.  The first programme STARDOM is a 12 week emotional intervention, targeting seriously vulnerable girls who are disconnecting from school.  They are likely to be making bad and often dangerous choices, displaying uncomfortable behaviour and hurting themselves in the process.  This programme is facilitated by professional Youth coaches who use a variety of coaching tools and therapeutic processes to reach the cause of the many challenges these girls face.  The aim is to empower them to step up, take responsibility and break some destructive behaviour patterns.

Our second and most popular intervention is BIG SISTER, a 12 month mentoring programme for 13-15 year olds.  This programme targets the girls that sit in the middle of the year and feel a little lost.  They are probably not reaching their full potential, on the cusp of behaving badly and/or easily influenced by their peer group.   We recruit and train women from all walks of life to be a Big Sister mentor to a girl for a year and the aim is to help her find her voice, her passion and her confidence.

All our programmes are successful and demand from schools is high. Both the girls and our role model volunteers benefit from involvement. The girls get to be inspired and supported by amazing women who show them what is possible and the women gain some fab skills, meet other amazing women and get to put something back into their community.  A genuine win/win.

We are always looking to harness women to work with us as mentors, fund raisers and corporate champions. We know for sure we will never run out of girls to work with, women to inspire them and schools but we do have a permanent shortfall on funding our work.

If you would like to join us on our mission have a look at www.girlsoutloud.org.uk and consider adopting us as your cause; joining our Role Model Scheme; Becoming a Big Sister; Volunteering at some of our school events or simply joining our mailing list to keep abreast of our activities.

Our girls need you now!
