Nidhima Kohli is the founder of My Beauty Matches, the world’s first Intelligent Beauty Matching Engine™.
This machine consists of artificial intelligence and proprietary technology, which is able to match the algorithm of an individual’s skin concerns with an impartial beauty product.
All the individual has to do is to take a quiz online about their skin type, hair type etc. and then products are matched to these needs.
About Nidhima
I was born and brought up in Luxembourg but came to England for University. My father is a businessman and I have always wanted to follow in his footsteps. He is incredibly humble, hardworking and down to earth and he is the reason I have this entrepreneurial bug in me! I always remember working from the age of 14 and when I was 15, I had my first Summer Internship at Dexia Bank.
My passion from a young age was to be a Bollywood choreographer, and I went to a professional dance school, The Conservatoire. However, my dream was shattered when I met a few Bollywood producers and found it all to be a bit too slimy. I decided to focus on my career in banking until I started to realise my long work hours and constant travelling was playing havoc on my skin. I went on a search to try find a skincare product for me, but was tired of having biased recommendations from beauty counters. At that point I had realised that there is nothing out there to give women impartial advice.
I decided to fill this gap and build My Beauty Matches, and that has been a rollercoaster of a ride!
Did you ever sit down and plan your career?
Yes, to be in banking, but I didn’t follow what I had planned, I followed my heart.
Do you have a typical work day?
As a single founder this is really my baby and it’s like a child – so my day doesn’t start or end – it is continuous. However, my day consists of a mix – many meetings, checking emails, bringing in new clients, managing team, finances, and overall strategies.
How do you feel about mentoring?
My mentor is my dad and I really appreciate him! He gives me such great advice as he has built his own businesses, so he knows exactly what he is talking about. I have also built a solid network of entrepreneurs around me, who are experts in different things and provide me with really good advice when needed. I have also mentored friends who have started their own businesses too!
What has been your biggest achievement to date?
My TV advert! Creating something that has never been done before and seeing it come to life in front of millions on national TV. It’s the best feeling.
What are you hoping to achieve in the future?
I hope to build the best technology in the world that is able to help consumers find the right products for them, which is completely impartial, and will also help brands and retailers reach their consumers more efficiently, whilst having a lot of fun with my great team.
